About five years ago I quit my job as a cancer researcher because of the emotional burden of working alongside death. I returned to research when both my parents got cancer year after year (melanoma and thyroid)
In 2020 I joined a company founded in memory of Ella Lauren Lemelbaum, a young multidisciplinary artist who died from skin cancer. At the company, we developed an innovative treatment for patients with metastatic melanoma, and after several years of activity, all the knowledge we had accumulated was donated to Sheba Hospital so that they can continue to help terminally ill patients
From my multi-layered encounter with skin cancer was born the project I am working on these days which by it I want to increase the awareness of the population to skin cancer, the most common malignant disease in Israel whose main cause is exposure to UV radiation
In the process of my creation, I paint with sunscreen on a surface that is sensitive to UV. Here, unlike the formation of mutations that can cause cancer, the creation of a beautiful thing is possible. The same radiation, only this time the result is life and hope. The source for creating the images in this project is applying sunscreen on faces and attaching the face to the fabric
